Dr Lydia Meredith
BDS (Otago), DClinDent (Orthodontics)
Lydia completed her 5-year dental degree (with credit) at Otago and worked as a general dentist for several years around NZ before deciding to specialise in Orthodontics.
During her extra 3 years in specialist training, she loved Dunedin so much that she decided to stay and has since opened her own practice, Dunedin Orthodontics.
Lydia's patients enjoy a fun and friendly atmosphere where she focuses on patient-centered care, making sure that your individual requests are always catered for. She graduated top of her class at Otago, and still keeps up-to-date with her Orthodontic knowledge, often attending conferences overseas with world renowned lecturers and always reading the latest journal articles as they are released. Lydia loves the fact that she provides modern, but evidence-based, orthodontic treatment.
She prides herself on her eye for detail, striving for the most beautiful smile in every patient as she knows what a big difference those final subtle changes can make. These strengths were recognized during her study, when she was awarded the top clinical prize for graduates in all of New Zealand by the Australasian Orthodontic Board.
Lydia believes that Orthodontic treatment should be accessible to everyone, and that the right advice should be easy to get, so she offers half price consultations to under 11 year olds. That way Mum and Dad can get the right advice as early as they feel they need it and know what may lie ahead for their child’s future. She examines and treats every child as if they were her own, so you know you are getting honest and very valuable advice and treatment.
Lydia plays an active role in the NZAO (New Zealand Association of Orthodontics) of which she is the current secretary. She is also on the executive committee for the Dunedin branch of the NZDA (New Zealand Dental Association) and is a member of both the AAO (Amercian Association of Orthodontics) and WFO (World Federation of Orthodontics).
She lives with her partner and family just south of Dunedin where they own some land, and is usually outside with them if she’s not at the practice!
